How do I get Freeview On Demand?

Freeview On Demand is available to everyone in New Zealand, and once you get it set up, it’s free to use.

There're 2 versions of Freeview On Demand available:

  1. Freeview On Demand built-in (HbbTV version)
  2. Freeview On Demand Smart TV app

 

Freeview On Demand built-in (HbbTV version)

You need broadband internet as well as a product with Freeview On Demand that’s compatible with the type of TV antenna you’re using (either a UHF aerial or a Satellite Dish is required as a TV antenna).

Go here to find products with Freeview On Demand that’s compatible for your TV antenna, you can buy from all good electronics stores nationwide.

Tip! If you have a Smart TV from 2015 or 2016, you may already have a product with Freeview On Demand. Check on the Freeview On Demand page to see if your Smart TV already has it built in. If you have an AerialBox T2100/T2200, a SatBox s8100/s8200, or a Panasonic DMR series recorder from 2015 or 2016, then you already have a product with Freeview On Demand.

Once you have a product with Freeview On Demand, simply connect it to your home broadband and to your TV antenna, then tune in channels.  Just follow the first-time setup instructions onscreen or check the device manual.

 

Freeview On Demand Smart TV app

Freeview On Demand is available as a Smart TV app on all SONY Android TVs, as well as SAMSUNG, LG & PANASONIC Smart TVs released in 2017 or later.  

Make sure you connect your Smart TV to broadband to access Freeview On Demand in the same way you do other apps on your Smart TV.

Tip! If Freeview On Demand isn't already installed on your Smart TV or if you're unsure if your Smart TV has the latest version, you may need to install it from the Apps Store on your Smart TV.  See here for more information.
