Farewell to the legacy Freeview On Demand service
As at Monday 17 December, the legacy Freeview On Demand (or FreeviewPlus) service will be switched off. This will officially complete the 7-month long staggered release of the new Freeview On Demand platform.
During the past months, Freeview has invested substantial resource to optimise its new solution; collaborating with manufacturers, broadcasters and developers so that its new Freeview On Demand platform is accessible across as many HbbTV-enabled devices as possible, both as an HbbTV streaming platform but also as a Smart TV app on post-2016 Samsung Smart TVs and on post-2017 LG Smart TVs.
Most HbbTV-devices released after 2015 would have already automatically updated to the new Freeview On Demand platform.
However, some Dish TV boxes, Smart TV apps and a a very small number of Smart TVs may not update automatically to the new platform before the legacy service is switched off.
Please see information below on how to get the new Freeview On Demand platform for your HbbTV-device.
